Fast-casual restaurants are one of the fastest growing trends in the culinary world - from Chipotle to Panera and even Toledo-based Balance Grille, fast casual restaurants are popping up all across Northwest Ohio. Pita Pit, which was founded in Kingston, Ontario in 1995, has recently expanded to downtown Toledo, with local franchise owners Kate Dake, her husband Tom Dake and her brother Steve Gesicki opening their third location in Northwest Ohio at 30 S. St. Clair St. next door to Home Slice Pizza in the Warehouse District. The Lebanese-style pita restaurant offers a fresh, healthy alternative to traditional fast food businesses that typically sell high-fat and high-calorie meals.

Pita Pit in the Toledo Free Press

Pita Pit were recently featured in an article in the Toledo Free Press titled, "Pita Pit location to open Downtown by Opening Day". The article highlights that Tom and Kate Dake are opening their third Pita Pit location in the Warehouse District later this month. The article explains how Tom, Kate and Kate's brother Steve Gesicki have owned the Bowling Green location since early 2012 and explains their expansion goals between Toledo and Cleveland. Downtowners will soon have a new choice for lunch in the Warehouse District. A franchise of the Pita Pit is opening March 31 at 30 S. St. Clair St.

Franchise owner Kate Dake said the area's emergence as an entertainment district was appealing when choosing a new location. 

"There's no other service like the Pita Pit over there," she said. "There's Jimmy John's and Subway [on the other side of Downtown], but there's no quick service in the Warehouse District."

Pita Pit opens in Stamford

STAMFORD - The health-conscious franchise franchise Pita Pit is expected to open its first location in the state at the beginning of April in downtown Stamford.

The new business, opening at 211 Main St., will offer fresh sandwiches containing meat and vegetables that appeal to minds and stomachs.

Pita Pit and the Bryan & Amanda Bickell Foundation on Comcast SportsNet Chicago

Pita Pit were recently featured on Comcast SportsNet Central in a segment focusing on Pita Pit and the Bryan & Amanda Bickell Foundation. The segment talks about how Brian Bickell rolled up his sleeves to make a few pitas on Friday evening to raise funds for his and Amanda Bickell's foundation, which aims to help save the lives of pit bulls.
Bryan was interviewed and talks about how his teammates have had his back in the numerous fundraisers throughout the city that included this one at the Pita Pit in Lincoln Park. Bryan also talks about how this was another great event for the foundation and that there were a ton of people that came out in support!

Pita Pit in the RedEye Chicago

Pita Pit were recently featured in the RedEye Chicago highlighting an event at our Lincoln Park, Chicago location. The article talks about how Blackhawks forward Bryan Bickell will be rolling pitas with Pita Pit founder Nelson Lang on Friday, March 7th from 4pm - 8pm at the Pita Pit in Lincoln Park.
It talks about how the event will raise funds for the Bryan & Amanda Bickell Foundation that creates awareness of pit bull issues and works with the dogs to assist abused children.
